Big, bold, and beautiful, nothing can prepare you for the stunning mountains of the Teton range. You can read about them, people can tell you about their sheer immensity, but you will still be amazed. Photographer Ansel Adams captured his iconic image of the mountain range at this very spot and we are lucky enough to call this “home” for the next two weeks.
We travel from the Wild-West town of Jackson Hole into the Bridger-Teton National Forest for a four-day trek between sweet-smelling mahogany and towering aspen trees. With nearly 1.2 million acres of designated wilderness and thousands of miles of unspoiled rivers and streams, Bridger-Teton offers something for everyone. This land is home to antelope, bald eagles, bears, and we are the visitors.
We travel north to the wilderness of Yellowstone National Park and Yellowstone Lake. Among candy-colored cliffs and craters that spout boiling water we travel by sea kayaks on one of the largest freshwater lakes in North America. We move on to raft the awe-inspiring Snake River as it twists along the base of the mile-high, snow-speckled peaks. We travel deep into a wilderness many never see…and feel lots of eyes watching us. Moose, elk, and river otters are abundant as we paddle and experience an authentic American wild west adventure.
Our expedition ends with a two-day rock climbing course in the Tetons with the world renowned Exum Mountain Guides. Whether you are new to climbing, making the transition from gym to real rock, an experienced climber, or a novice that simply wants to summit an easy peak, we have many routes to test our skills, and bag another crag.
As we say goodbye, we feast our eyes on one of the last places where you can still be blinded by the brightness of the stars and awed by the sunrises of the early morning light.
