  • Clay Art Center is a nationally recognized non-profit center for the advancement and practice of the ceramic arts, in Port Chester, New York. We were founded in 1957 by Katherine Choy and Henry Okamoto, and today, after over a half century of growth and expansion, we’re proud to serve the arts community with studio space and exhibition opportunities, and engage the public and foster new artists through classes for children and adults of all levels.

    July 31- Aug 4
    9 AM - 4 PM

Sign up for our morning and afternoon camp, with an hour of supervised lunch and activities.

    Ages 6-9
Morning: Clay as Canvas (ages 6-9)
Craft plates and tiles of all shapes and sizes and get prepared, to add layers of color, mix and match, paint and scratch, to make art for the wall and table. Design your own 3-D canvas and make it pop with your new painting techniques!
    Afternoon: Fantastic Beasts (ages 6-9)
Clay Art Center is where you will find them! It’s your chance to tell us the story of your own Fantastical Beast. Create mythical, magical and undiscovered creatures. Design your creature, fabricate their history and construct their wondrous worlds in clay!

    Ages 10+
Morning: The Great Handle Scandal Camp (ages 10 & up)
Learn to use the potter’s wheel to create mugs, cups and creamers. We will explore the many ways to construct a handle with the right fit and feel. Add a little something extra to the pieces we throw on the potter's wheel when you add a fancy, funky or just plain funny handle.
Afternoon: Gone Bowlin’ (ages 10 & up)
“Bowling” has never been so messy! Use the Potter’s Wheel to create fun and functional bowls of all shapes and sizes, for you, your family and your pets.
