  • Nest Design is an interdisciplinary group. We value visual design, interaction design, prototyping, and research as equal pillars of the product. We are looking for an intern who’s interested in using their engineering and creative skills together to make direct impact on product decisions.

As a UX Engineer Intern on the UX Design team, you’ll be responsible for building interactions, concepts, and systems that require understanding of technical architecture as well as a creative mindset. You’ll be expected to collaborate closely with designers, engineers and product managers during periods of idea generation and you’ll also be a bridge between the design team and the engineering teams to help communicate implementation details and rationale for design choices. User Experience (UX) Engineers are the synthesis of design and development. The best candidate for this role is someone that sees code as a creative medium.

    The work:

    • Build and test concepts for validation
    • Use a mix of tools to facilitate quick test prototypes
    • Partner with designers, engineers and other prototypers across the company
    • Strategize, brainstorm, and define approaches that optimize implementation of the design intent

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, and graduating in 2019 or 2020
    • Experience in one or more of the following: Objective C, Swift, Python, JavaScript, Java, or C++
    • Experience with development on mobile platforms, material design standards and principles, developing websites and applications, ideation, design, storyboarding, and overall UX development

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Currently pursuing a MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field, and graduating in 2019 or 2020
    • Android, iOS, or Front end development experience
    • Relevant Internship work, work experience, or personal project experience outside the classroom in at least one of the following: physics engines, rendering engines, or artificial intelligence engines
