  • Poshmark is seeking Data Science Intern for Spring/Summer 2018. We are a rapidly growing multiplatform social fashion marketplace and working on interesting data science problems to improve user experiences. The role will be dynamic and varied, requiring a versatile self-starter willing to dive into multiple initiatives. Over 10+ weeks the intern can expect to become deeply involved in exploring and implementing analytics models that may run in production.

    Our goal is to give you exposure to a range of data science techniques and current big data technologies, through the experience of applying them to the multi-platform social marketplace dynamics. This role will provide an excellent opportunity to implement models that may run in production, at scale.

    Internship period: Spring/Summer 2018

    What You’ll Be Potentially Doing (sample problems):

    Focus on a variety of deep data analytics and modeling problems

    User behavior modeling: Predicting user propensity for conversion and retention

    Personalization: People Matching algorithm to enable strong social connections

    Marketing and CRM: Customer lifetime value modeling, campaign optimization etc

    Optimization: Large-scale linear and nonlinear constrained optimization algorithms that optimize marketplace dynamics

    Qualifications

    Currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Statistics or related field

    Preferred emphasis on algorithms, machine learning, data mining, statistics, applied mathematics or similar field

    Expert level skills in SQL, Python, R and scikit-learn. Need to be able to pull your own big volume data, process it and develop algorithm

    Solid understanding of applied math topics such as probability and statistics, linear algebra, basic optimization techniques

    Strong communication and collaboration skills; Being a team player is must

    Passion for consumer experience, a desire to go into uncharted territory with bold new ideas, and a willingness to go the last mile on execution
