At Nielsen, you will help analyze and understand what all this means to our consumers, and how it truly influences and drives consumer behavior in what people watch and what people buy. Nielsen is the science behind what’s next for our clients.

    The Data Science Digital Product Team drives development and support of our digital measurement product Digital Content Ratings that provides clients with a view of what content people view on computers, smartphones, tablets, and other digital devices. The intern will focus on initiatives targeting methodology improvements that will positively impact DCR data quality. The role would focus on examining alternatives to the current audience capping approach used in DCR. The intern will get an opportunity to investigate other statistical modeling techniques that might be more accurate and stable than the current approach.

    Responsibilities

    • Understand the challenges underlying digital measurement of digital content viewing
    • Conduct research on methodology enhancements using statistical techniques ranging from classical modeling to machine learning and AI.
    • Analyze data sets to determine the best methodology that would fit to the product
    • Design a methodology and validate it by writing code in Python or R and run analysis
    • Summarize and present your research findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences

    Selection Criteria

    • Undergraduate/ Graduate students majoring in Statistics, Data Science, Math, or related fields
    • Anticipated graduation in 2019
    • Statistical coding experience with R/Python preferred; SQL ; Familiarity with Weighting
    • Strong communication skills, clear and concise written documentation skills
    • Naturally curious, detail oriented, passionate about data quality and statistical methods, ability to drive a project to completion.
    • Availability full time June – August 2018 in San Francisco/Sunnyvale
    • Permanent work authorization in the U.S
