The successful candidate will be adept at simulation modeling of wireless communication techniques.

    Facebook is seeking a Wireless Communications Systems Engineering Intern to join our Connectivity Lab Team. This is a 12 week internship position located in our Woodland Hills office (near Los Angeles).

    Responsibilities:

    • Interface with communication systems engineers, RF engineers, technicians to develop wireless channel sounding waveforms
    • Test out transmitters/receivers in the laboratory environment to validate and refine channel sounding methodology
    • Develop back-end processing of the collected channel samples in MATLAB/Simulink
    • Develop long term data logging capability.
    • Execute tests according to plan, while keeping a thorough procedural record and data log
    • Contribute to wireless communication system development for a variety of connectivity scenarios.

    Mininum Qualifications:

    • Pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in electrical engineering
    • Experience with MATLAB simulation modeling of wireless comm techniques: QAM/PSK modulations, RRC pulse shaping, OFDM, SC-FDMA, BER vs. SNR analysis and MIMO
    • Familiarity with RF lab testing using equipment such as PNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, arbitrary waveform generator
    • Experience in time-domain and frequency-domain wireless communication system design
    • Troubleshooting and analytics
    • Familiarity with MATLAB & Simulink, HFSS, ADS, C, or Python

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience using Software defined radio (SDR) for evaluation of baseband algorithms such as digital precoding, MIMO equalization and other beamforming techniques
    • Prior wireless channel sounding experience in millimeter wave and microwave frequencies
