    Brief Description

    Tri-State is an electric utility. The Transmission organization has an Engineering Summer Intern vacancy available for 2018 in our Transmission System Metering group, working with engineers and specialists on implementing and documenting metering and SCADA system projects. Engineering students who have successfully completed two (2) to three (3) years of undergraduate study towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited engineering program are encouraged to apply.

    Projects may include:

    • SPP RTO metering readiness implementation
    • Metering systems documentation
    • Metering/SCADA/telecommunications systems implementation on Distributed Energy Resources (DER) projects

    Expected Outcomes: Gain knowledge of the day-to-day requirements to successfully manage the system metering function in an electric utility organization.

    The position is based at the Northern Colorado Maintenance Center (NCMC), Frederick, CO. Tri-State offers a competitive pay rate for this position.

    Salary Grade: NB05

    Required Qualifications:

    Education:

    • Engineering students who have successfully completed two (2) to three (3) years of undergraduate study towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited engineering program are encouraged to apply. Please attach a current college transcript when applying.

    Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

    • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with a variety of people; strong verbal and written communications skills; strong organizational skills; strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
    • Additionally, candidates must have good computer software skills, including Microsoft Suite.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience with ESRI GIS Metering Viewer, Sharepoint, and Meridian software
    • Coursework in power systems, control systems, and/or telecommunications systems
    • AutoCAD knowledge/experience

    Duration and Work Schedule:

    • This summer position will be from about the end of May until the end of August (flexible depending on the student’s start/end of semester). It is a M-F schedule, 40 hours/week.

    Location: This internship will be based at our Northern Colorado Maintenance Center (NCMC), Frederick, CO.
