    Entity and activity description

    The Air Liquide Forschung und Entwicklung GmbH (AL R&D) is one of 8 R&D Centers within the worldwide Air Liquide Group. The research activities focus on finding answers to pressing social challenges such as in the fields of environmental protection and the production and storage of energy. The AL R&D concentrates on innovative methods for the generation and application of industrial gases in areas like synthesis gas, gas purification, hydrogen mobility or the production of basic chemicals. Special strength lies in the scale-up of results from numerous pilot plants to large scale applications and in close collaboration with internal and external partners from industry and science.

    Missions and Responsibilities

    One of the main focuses at ALFE is to find innovative solutions for improvement of the existing chemical production & conversion processes. The main activities in this direction include kinetic findings and mathematical modeling based on first-principles. The internship applicant is expected to have a very adaptive and quick-learning can-do attitude, as well as most of the below-mentioned competencies.

    Competencies and Profile

    • bachelor degree in chemical engineering
    • a good knowledge of catalytic chemical reactor
    • skill in processing scientific literature/journal
    • a good knowledge of chemical process system engineering
    • practical experience in mathematical modeling, optimization algorithms
    • practical experience with MATLAB, C, VBA
    • Familiar with advanced process simulation / modeling (e.g. Aspen Custom Modeler)
    • English fluent in spoken and written
