    Union Pacific Railroad has several year-round internship opportunities available for students who would like to work at the Computer Build Center Group within the Information Technologies Department. This position will be located in the Council Bluffs, IA area. The primary responsibilities of this position includes: general support of internal customer client computing devices, software and peripherals, and may involve taking calls to resolve customer concerns and implementing new equipment. In addition, this position will include experiences with PC software/hardware installation. Internship requires a 20-25 hour per week, with no less than 4 hour daily increments, work commitment. Some weekends may be required. Due to training requirements, students must have at least one semester remaining prior to graduation.

    Note: Union Pacific will not sponsor workers on visa applications for this position. Candidates who would require Union Pacific’s sponsorship to obtain, extend, or renew their authorization to work in the U.S. are ineligible for this position.

    Accountabilities

    • Responsible for 8-10 PC builds at a time. This process will involve; understanding work in queue and taking responsibility for the work, the ability to execute the entire PC build process to completion, the ability to takeover PC builds anywhere in the process (and pass along to other workers for completion), the ability to process and ship hardware to UP field locations, and the ability to effectively communicate with customers and peers, both orally and written.
    • Interns will work in a standard warehouse environment with heavy machinery, assist with warehouse and cleanup work, and adhere to standard safety practices (including wearing steel toed shoes).
    Qualifications

    Required

    • An Associate degree Candidate must be actively enrolled in a 2 or 4 year degree program. A technical degree is preferred.

    Preferred

    1 year(s) experience in computer applications Proven experience with Windows operating systems support; workstation and laptop configuration and support; and workstation peripheral support experience.
