  • The Field Museum is pleased to announce the 2018 Old World Curatorial Team Collections Internship. This internship will be dedicated to working with the Museum’s outstanding ethnographic collections. The length of the paid internship program will depend on the schedules of the intern and staff. The intern will be required to work a minimum of three days per week at the Museum.This internship will be awarded to an advanced undergraduate, beginning graduate student, or a recent college graduate (i.e. graduation in December 2017 or later) to work under the supervision of Angie Morrow (Chief Registrar) along with Chris Philipp (Collection Manager) and Jamie Kelly (Collections Manager). The primary component of this internship will be devoted to working with cataloging, labeling, photographing, and housing objects from South and Southeast Asia and Africa. They is also the opportunity to work on the digitization of paper records and the linking of these scans in the collections database. This intern may also assist with selected visits to the Museum’s collections in the form of tours and research visits.

    Qualifications

    This internship will be awarded to an individual currently studying anthropology, art history, museum studies, or a related field who have proven verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated knowledge of anthropology collections, the ability to work effectively as a member of a team on a variety of tasks, and experience with processing digital information. Hands-on familiarity with/interest in care of collections desired.
