  • Job Description
Amgen’s 10 – 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient’s lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation.

Relocation in the form of a miscellaneous allowance will be provided for eligible candidates.

Amgen’s Digital Integration and Predictive Technologies (DIPT) group within Process Development is seeking a graduate intern to develop and deploy a portfolio of first-principles and mechanistic process models. These models will span drug substance, drug product and drug delivery systems for synthetic and biologic medicines. The phenomena underpinning these models encompass transport phenomena, fluid dynamics, chemical reactions and chemical equilibria, as well as multi-physics systems. These processes result in lumped- and distributed-parameter system mathematical formulations and required state-of-the-art modeling tools, both commercial, in-house and open-source. Models will be packaged in modeling apps, and deployed to scientists/engineers in outside DIPT within Process Development. Application of advanced numerical techniques (sensitivity and uncertainty analysis, numerical optimization) is within the scope of work.

This assignment provides opportunities to develop skills in:

    • Computational modeling
    • Experimental protocols
    • Coding in Python and/or Java.
    • Modeling app implementation and deployment
    • Multi-disciplinary work

The intern will be embedded in a high performing team of modelers with many years of experience in the development and application of numerical modeling techniques and highly predictive mathematical models. The intern will be an integral part of the team and help shape the team’s modeling strategy though the outcome of this work.
