    Paid Summer Internship: Start May/June

    AOPA’s Summer Legal Internship Program strives to offer a diverse, meaningful, and rewarding experience through the Office of AOPA’s General Counsel including activities similar to the following:

    AOPA Legal Services Plan

    • Develop a basic knowledge and understanding of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
    • Conduct legal research, analyze legal issues, and assist LSP attorneys in providing legal advice to plan participants on aviation-related matters
    • Assist in the development of panel attorney seminar materials and resources

    AOPA Government Affairs

    • Support the Government Affairs Department to further AOPA’s advocacy and policy initiatives
    • Provide legal research and analysis on complex general aviation industry issues
    • Develop appropriate solutions for addressing legal or policy issues identified
    • Draft correspondence to governmental bodies such as FAA or airport governing bodies
    • Collaborate across multiple departments

    AOPA General Legal Needs

    • Support the AOPA General Counsel by providing legal research and analysis of legal issues affecting a tax-exempt, aviation membership organization

    Requirements:

    • Open to all law students currently enrolled in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association
    • Must have a passion for aviation law and policy issues, possess excellent legal research and analysis capabilities, and superb verbal and written communication skills
    • Has had flight training, but pilot certificate is preferred
