  • Eaton’s Vehicle Group is looking for Engineering Internsfor Summer 2018. These positions will be located at our Marshall, MI facility.

    Position Overview:

    This Engineering Intern is a student assigned to support current production programs, new development program launches, design, and engineering process improvements. Specific tasks might include the gathering and verification of functional requirements, assessing potential design risks, participating in lab activities and testing, and conducting root cause analysis of issues identified during the development and testing processes, process improvements, metallurgical engineering, materials and prototype coordination, sample unit builds, durability testing, in vehicle testing, etc.

    Achieving the desired results will require individual contributions as well as contributions attained as part of a team. In this role you will collaborate with team members located in the U.S. and other regions in order to engage in problem solving, product improvement, and cost reduction.

    Based on your application to this position, you will be assigned to one of the engineering teams considering your interests, skills, and abilities as well as the needs of the organization. Engineering teams include: Core Valves, Advanced Valves, Boosting, Torque Control, Powertrain, Test Labs for any of those groups, Vehicle Technology & Innovation or Engineering Center of Excellence.

    Essential Functions:

    • Participates as a team member on various engineering projects.
    • Provides regular status updates and participates in team planning sessions.
    • Applies engineering concepts to assigned tasks including: design, engineering calculations, stack-ups, validation testing.
    • Learns and applies technical skills related to mechanical and electrical systems supporting new product development engineering and launch activities.
    • Develop presentations and reports (data, technology description etc.) to be presented to internal and/or external customers.
    • Applies an adequate level of computer literacy in the areas of engineering systems, software, graphics, presentations, and multimedia. Shares knowledge in computer skills.
    • Complies with the policies, procedures, and expectations outlined by Eaton’s Management System.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Actively enrolled in the College of DuPage Pathways Engineering Program
    • Minimal Cumulative GPA of 3.0 (please do not round).
    • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Previous co-op or internship experience in product engineering / design and development / test engineering.
    • Previous participation in high school or college STEM activities such as Robotics, SAE programs, etc.
