    The Office of Women in Medicine and Science (OWIMS) is searching for an undergraduate or graduate student interested in project development and/or resource management with a focus on endeavors to promote women in medicine and science. This individual will participate in a variety of new and ongoing projects within OWIMS allowing them to exercise academic knowledge and problem-solving skills related to project coordination, data analysis, and fiscal resourcing in an academic office setting. They will also have the opportunity to meet with institutional leadership, visit state of the art facilities, and discover further aspects of an academic medical center focused on patient care, research, and education.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Enrollment in undergraduate or graduate school

    REPORTS TO: Director, Office of Women in Medicine and Science

    LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: N/A

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Undertake new projects such as web design/development and program development, to encourage creative thinking and cultivate problem-solving abilities

    2. Assist with the organization and analyzation of collected program data

    3. Contribute to the development, coordination, and logistics of inter-departmental events and programs

    4. Assist departmental leadership with identifying budgetary resources for program funding

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Demonstrate strong PC skills (i.e. Microsoft Office products)
    • Demonstrate strong quantitative and analytical skills
    • Possess a basic understanding of finances and budgeting
    • Ability to prioritize and manage projects resulting in timely deliverables
    • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with business partners across departments

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Business casual office setting
    • May require occasional face-to-face meetings, conference calls, and other office visits

    LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Performs a variety of general office activities to support the department.
    • Organizes work activities to ensure completion on time.
    • Processes incoming/outgoing mail.
    • Creates and maintains accurate filing/record system.
    • Resolves problems to improve customer service.

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
    Communication skills
    Ability to operate office equipment
    Organizational skills

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    May be required to operate simple machinery and computer terminals.
    Subject to varying climate and temperature.
    Moderate noise level
