    Special Metals Corporation/PCC is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Technical Systems team as a co-op or intern. This opportunity will give an individual a chance to work in providing real-time dashboard visualizations, reports, data collection, organization and analysis to SMC New Hartford & Dunkirk Technical teams.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    Ideal candidates are interested in working with web-facing databases, comfortable with SQL query language, and interested in applying these skills towards a highly technical manufacturing environment. Will work with the Technical Systems team to provide agile, database-driven solutions using Oracle Database, Application Express and PL/SQL. Ability to correlate data from multiple sources to provide easy to access, value-added data reports, charts, and dashboards. Ability to refine projects using an agile methodology of early prototyping, iterative development, and frequent feedback. Participates in daily Scrum meetings to discuss roadblocks, ask technical questions, and set the day’s goals. Relies on built-in feedback loops to improve and maintain dashboards.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Interfacing with the Purchasing department on a number of Raw Material related projects including: UNPR Inventory Dashboard, Inventory Yield Tracking, Purchasing Recycle Report, Raw Material Input Form, Trace Element Control Limits Dashboard, Raw Material Input Program Upgrades, and more.
    • Assist in development real-time data analytics for technical, quality, and other business metrics.

      COMPETENCIES

    • Basic background knowledge of manufacturing.
    • Knowledge of Oracle 11g or 12c.
    • Comfortable with SQL query language.
    • Application Express a plus.
    • Statistical analysis experience a plus.
    • Knowledge of metallurgy, forging, or chemistry a plus.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Students studying the following disciplines: Computer Science, Data Science, Data Systems, Web UX development, or Data Analytics.

    SPECIAL SKILLS

    • Knowledge of Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
    • Ability to interface with any person in the organization.
    • Organizational skills and attention to detail are critical.
    • Reliable attendance and good communication skills are essential.
    • Ability to work in a high pressure environment.
