  • SHIFT is hiring full time interns who would like to get some real-world experience in Public Relations. Your SHIFTernship is a 6-month gig. And it is paid! Candidates must be available for full time employment immediately. Relocation is not available.

    SHIFT’s internship program provides an excellent opportunity to experience the public relations industry first-hand and to learn from seasoned professionals in the field. To facilitate growth and ensure appropriate exposure to the various facets of public relations, interns will work closely with a variety of teams and clients.

    In a nutshell, heres what you can expect to get your hands into during your SHIFTernship (hint: a lot!):
    Media Relations including tracking and monitoring target media, capturing and assessing coverage for clients. Monitoring industry and media developments and working with the team to create new storylines to take to the media.

    Research that will include conducting in-depth desk research to build proactive pitches, infographics, research reports, media audits, helping SHIFT secure thought leadership exposure for clients and generating viral content to spread the message.

    Writing You will be exposed to a broad range of materials and opportunity to explore various forms of writing in PR.

    Database Development You will receive hands-on training from team members on building speaking and award calendars. Begin to develop pro skills on using software such as Cision, Sysomos and SocMetrics to develop killer editorial calendars, reports and targeted influencer and media lists.

    Social Media You will learn to execute social media tactics including, but not limited to, monitoring Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and the blogosphere for opportunities for clients to engage their communities; drafting tweets, Facebook and blog posts as needed; brainstorming new content to help enhance engagement on clients social media properties.

    Other Administrative duties as needed in all three offices

    Qualifications

    Open to current seniors and recent graduates with an insatiable interest in PR. Course of study should be communications, English, journalism, political science, marketing. Demonstrate exemplary attention to detail and experience with the basic principles of business writing, creative writing and AP style guidelines.

    Achieved or currently studying for Bachelors degree.
