    Directorate Intelligence & Defense Solutions
    Riverside Research is seeking an electrical engineering/physics intern with strong foundations in Matlab, and probability and statistics analysis to support a multidisciplinary project consisting of fluid dynamics, machine learning, and remote sensing processing from our Beavercreek, Ohio office. The engineering intern will be assisting in the examination of the feasibility of using neural network analysis for the modeling of collocated hyperspectral imagery and in-situ physical-chemical water signatures which characterize riverine flow. The student will also be involved in learning and applying Hidden Markov models to the same data set. The project is comprehensive in the sense that the intern will not only process data but will document results in poster/powerpoint presentation form for presentation to technical audiences.

    Job Responsibilities:
    “¢ Analyze in-situ and HSI data using advanced signal processing techniques and interpret statistical results using concepts from fluid dynamics, and machine learning

    • Perform signal processing and machine learning simulations to demonstrate the utility of a non-classical algorithmic approach
    • Create poster and power point presentation of results for dissemination to a technical audience
    • Assist in developing new approaches to the analysis of data using ideas from machine learning
    • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications:
    In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.

    “¢ Currently pursuing an Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics (BS ) degree at an accredited institution of higher learning

    • Experience with computer programming and data analysis in MatLab
    • Experience with probability and statistical analysis, and signal and image processing algorithms preferred
    • Must be self-motivated, possess a willingness to learn new skills independently, and be comfortable following directions
    • Internship to start in the spring/summer; intern works 40 hours per week. One week of unpaid vacation during the summer will be permitted; flexible start and stop dates
