  • Responsibilities: Printing supplies are a critical part of HPs business. They form a key part of the 3D Printing, Large Format printing and desktop printing businesses. The Supplies Business Organization (SBO) is accountable for all current and future business, strategy, analytics and operations related to Inkjet and Toner printing supplies for HP worldwide. Supplies System Optimization (SSO) is responsible for revenue optimization on current and future supplies within our Home Supplies and Brand Protection organization and uses Big Data coupled with advanced analytic techniques to provide strategic insights for the HP printing business.

    SSO is seeking an intern who will have an integrated role incorporating both Big Data analytics as well as Writing Systems/System Integration Engineering. This will be a 12 week internship located in Corvallis, Oregon. The selected candidate will conduct an ink usage analysis project focused on a specific printer platform to identify trends and opportunities as well as carry out empirical testing through system test methods on printer test beds. The results obtained will be used to gain confidence and understanding in ink usage as reported in Big Data and ultimately guide strategic decisions for the HP Print business.

    Skills and qualifications:

    • Junior status or later, pursuing a Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. degree in engineering field, ideally with standing knowledge of business, statistics, economics, math or similar.
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
    • Ability to work & effectively interact with team members from other disciplines, projects, organizations, cultures & companies.
    • Resourceful, creative and flexible.
    • Skills in analytical decision-making, troubleshooting and problem-solving.
    • Proficiency in practical experiment design and excellent knowledge of applied statistics.
    • System-level thinking, integrating firmware, scripts, software, optoelectronics, and/or servo mechanisms.
    • Interface with a broad variety of specialists to drive and coordinate solutions within the inkjet lab and across product divisions.
    • Ability to exercise independent judgment, work within defined policies and practices. Determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
    • Exhibit solid planning, organizational and documentation skills.
    • High degree of commitment and initiative.
    • Fluent spoken and written English.
