Experience life as a full-time web developer with a paid summer internship at Palo Alto Software.

We started in the Bay Area but long ago relocated to downtown Eugene. Our modern, open office space is located on the 4th and 5th floors of the Broadway Commerce Building, right upstairs from Sizzle Pie and the Barn Light. Come have an awesome experience with us this summer!

    Description
This internship will require experience in software design, coding and debugging. This knowledge is essential for all applicants. Experience gained in the classroom and through personal application will be accepted.

You’ll be working with the development team that builds and maintains all of our marketing and sales sites that receive over 2 million visitors every month. You’ll be working with a team of developers and be part of the marketing team that focuses on creating great content and optimizing our sales and marketing processes.

    About our web dev team
We are an agile WebDev team that uses PHP, JavaScript, Sass, MySQL, Redis and Apache for our marketing sites for our LivePlan business planning software and Outpost email collaboration tool. We hold weekly work estimation meetings, and use the kanban method to prioritize and streamline. Our workflow process is constantly evolving as we identify pain points and efficiencies, and we hold monthly team retrospectives to identify successes and areas for improvement. To encourage personal and professional growth, team members have weekly one on one meetings with the lead developer. Each member of our team makes valuable contributions to figuring out how to do things in the best possible way.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop new web site features
    • Diagnose and fix real web site bugs
    • Participate in estimation sessions to understand user goals and use cases, craft effective solutions, and point work requirements
    • Share feedback and ideas in team retrospectives to help us continually improve and experiment with our processes, tools, workflow, etc.

    What we’re looking for
We value curiosity, intelligence, and drive. We’re looking for self-starters who are happy to tackle unfamiliar technologies and complex problems. You’ll get support, training, and mentorship from our senior staff, but we also want you to be willing and able to fight through problems on your own and learn on the job. Top-notch creative problem-solving skills are important. We’re also looking for people with great interpersonal skills, a good sense of humor, and an easy ability to collaborate with the rest of the team.

    Majors
    Computer Science/Network Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics
