    Job Overview

    TE Connectivity’s internship program is designed to provide interns with real world experience to enhance classroom knowledge. Uniquely crafted assignments and meaningful projects provide interns with a challenging 10 ““ 12 week experience. Interns will gain exposure to senior leadership and be given professional development opportunities. At the end of the summer, interns will be provided the opportunity to pursue full-time placement within TE Connectivity.

    TE Connectivity seeks to employ a Mechanical Engineer intern for our Data & Devices business unit.

    Responsibilities & Qualifications

    Responsibilities:

    • Support development of connector and/or cable assembly manufacturing processes for new high-speed cable product development
    • Tool & process concepts
    • Tool procurement
    • Supplier engagement
    • Tool & process evaluation and qualification using statistical analysis tools
    • Perform root cause analysis and resolution
    • Process documentation
    • Operate advanced measurement equipment including universal testing machines, digital microscopes, cameras, and precision gages.
    • Develop learnings and execution of Six Sigma process tools on new manufacturing development processes (FMEA, Gage R&R, Tool approvals (capability study), Gage correlation, etc.)
    • Analyze data, provide technical documentation to engineering, and maintain electronic files to preserve design history (JMP)
    • Participate in team meetings; communicate with colleagues including advanced technology staff, development engineering, quality, and manufacturing process development
    • Self-development: Learn company systems.
    • Learn about company products.
    • Design of Experiments.
    • Data Analytics. – Special Projects: Perform special projects and duties as requested by department management.

    Qualifications:

    • Majors: Junior or Senior status in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Manufacturing Engineering
    • Eligible candidates will be available for internship from May 2018 to August 2018
    • Will be familiar with commercial mechanical CAD package
    • ProE preferred (Solid Works, AutoCAD, etc.)
    • Knowledge of simulation software including but not limited to ANSYS, etc.
    • Ability to compile and analyze data using spreadsheets and graphing programs including MS Excel or JMP, Minitab
    • Understanding of materials testing.

    Additional Skills:

    • Ability to successfully communicate across all levels and functions within the organization
    • Ability to work independently of others as well as in a team setting
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
