    Job Description Summary

    Established in 1821 as the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, the University of the Sciences has a long tradition as an institution dedicated to science and healthcare education. The mission of the University is to educate students to become leaders and innovators in the sciences, health professions, and emerging related disciplines. Student Affairs contributes to the academic mission of the University through quality student-centered programming and services that support the emotional, intellectual, personal and ethical growth of the individual student. The Summer Graduate Intern position offers a unique opportunity to blend a traditional summer orientation assistant-ship with experience in residence life.

    Compensation: On-campus housing will be provided for the duration of the internship. In addition, a stipend and meals totaling in $4,000 will be provided. Free parking on-campus and free gym membership are also provided.

    Effective Dates: Monday, June 4th, 2018-Friday, August 3rd, 2018, dates negotiable.

    Required Qualification Summary

    Enrollment in graduate-level higher education administration, student personnel services, student affairs, or a related area of study.

    Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

    Strong interest in professional development and personal growth.

    Ability to self-motivate and multi-task.

    Familiarity with Microsoft Office and GoogleDocs.

    Finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.

    Preferred Qualification Summary
    Physical Demands

    Requires extended periods of sitting, standing and walking. Occasional climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

    Essential Duties

    Train and supervise 2 Orientation Team Leaders (OTL) and 10 Orientation Leaders (OL).

    Work with the Associate Director of Student Life to assist in the development and implementation of three overnight Orientation sessions June 20-21, June 25-26, and June 27-28, and Welcome Weekend programming.

    Plan the schedule and execute Orientation Training, to take place before orientation sessions begin.

    Collaborate with the Office of Residence Life to ensure orientees are safe and satisfied.

    Establish relationships with various offices in the Division of Student Affairs and across campus to involve them in orientation programming.

    Design ” Making the Most of College” session.

    Coordinate decor and activities for late night programming during Orientation.

    Design Orientation Leader pre-assessment and post-assessments, and coordinate Orientation Leader exit interviews.

    Create and format icebreakers to be provided to each Orientation Leader.

    Oversee the Orientation Leader folder assembly process.

    Design Orientation Leader business cards and introduction pages.

    Collect and format information about the Orientation Leaders, and submit to university marketing to publish on USciences website.

    Assign Orientation Leader responsibilities for each orientation day.

    Problem solve in high pressure situations, sometimes dealing with parents or family members.

    Analyze data and submit report of program evaluations to the Associate Director of Student Life.

    Assist in planning fall programs for the Department of Student Life (e.g. Greek Leadership Retreat, Welcome Week, etc.).

    Serve in the Office of Residence Life’s Professional on Duty rotation.

    Assist Residence Director and Associate Director of Residence Life with planning all aspects of Fall Resident Advisor Training.
