    Our Design EngineerIntern is part of a team that’s motivated to do a great job. As a Design Engineer Intern at McConway & Torley, you’ll Work on process improvements, scrap reduction, capital projects, safety, etc. to control and continuously improve the steel foundry manufacturing process and maximize productivity and minimize cost

    What You’ll do:

    • Work on process improvements, scrap reduction, capital projects, safety, etc. to control and continuously improve the steel foundry manufacturing process and maximize productivity and minimize cost while providing cast rail products that meet or exceed customer needs.
    • Work for the Vice President of Manufacturing to improve the Pittsburgh steel foundry processes through implementation of lean manufacturing practices (eliminate waste), and application of six sigma methodologies (reduce variation).
    • Research and introduce innovative technologies to replace antiquated processes for better efficiencies.
    What you’ll need:

    • Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in lean, operations, manufacturing, supply chain or engineering.
    • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Possess effective interpersonal skills in a team environment.
    • Must be project-oriented and be able to multi-task.
    • Knowledge/proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, AutoCad or equivalent, Ability to fulfill a one quarter or semester internship commitment, 40 hours per week.
    • Must provide GPA, minimum accepted 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
