    Environmental Health & Safety Intern

    What you will do

    Johnson Controls invites you to apply for an internship located in East York, PA. This internship is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives focused on environmental health & safety as we prepare to move to our new plant. Specific identified internship responsibilities are outlined below.

    How you will do it:

    • Working on outlining a new conveyor system for our new plan
    • Working with vendors, learning about the production process
    • Develop work instructions on processes for safely building our upcoming product lines
    • Work in tandem with fellow team members in our Mississippi & Missouri plants who are also working on these new product lines
    • Utilize knowledge of OSHA regulations to develop processes fitting OSHA parameters
    • Assist EHS team in Environmental compliance sampling and reporting.
    • Task involves understanding general EHS best practices, and established Johnson Controls EHS guidelines.

    Duration: This will be a full-time summer 2018 internship. Typical summer internships last 10-12 weeks during the May-August time frame.

    Qualifications

    What we look for
    Required Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
    • Pursuing a degree in safety engineering, occupational safety, Industrial Engineering or similar major with a strong knowledge base in safety
    • Graduating in December 2018 or later
    • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) preferred; must be able to communicate effectively with plant and office/corporate personnel
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills required
    • Knowledge in Occupational Health and safety Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations
    • Rising juniors or seniors preferred
    • Local candidates are preferred
