    The Opportunity

    Objectives

    The objective of the internship program is to provide students in Computer Science/IT related discipline, the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-life work situations, under the guidance of a Delaware North Sportservice manager. The program will provide the student with experience in supporting the IT staff in software, hardware, cabling and all other technological tasks and issues. The intern will have the opportunity to gain the following insight and skills:

    a. Appreciation for the goals and management styles of the establishment.

    b. Opportunity to observe and shadow role models at work in the industry, from entry-level to managerial level.

    c. Gain understanding of the importance of human relations in the operation while increasing ability to work effectively with staff.

    d. Develop an ability to formulate plans to improve the establishment.

    e. Develop and enhance their communication and organizational skills through interviewing, training, staff evaluations and preparing work schedules and reports.

    Description of the Internship Program

    Delaware North Sportservice internships are available at many of our properties across different subsidiaries, and the specifics of the program may vary by property They will have the opportunity to get exposed to our business, develop their management skills and determine if they would like to pursue a career in our industry. The program will consist primarily of on-the-job training, complemented with some online training programs.

    Responsibilities

    Interns will be expected to perform duties as assigned by the IT Manager, as well as the required functional daily responsibilities of the position.

    Qualifications

    We are seeking highly-motivated, hard-working individuals with a genuine interest in a career in the hospitality industry. Excellent oral and written communication skills. IT, Computer Science and Business majors preferred. Additional competencies include:

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment

    • Responsible/reliable
    • Ability to work well with others/team oriented
    • Willingness/ability to work long hours
