    West TX A&M University Casework Intern

    Location: Boys Ranch, TX 79010
    Schedule: Monday – Friday
    Salary: unpaid; fuel stipend provided based on distance
    FT/PT Status: Internship

    Job Responsibilities:
    **Applications must be submitted with a writing sample. This can be a summary, an example from coursework, letter of interest in the position or other exemplary writing material.

    The intern is working toward obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at West Texas A&M University (” WT”). WT’s Social Work degree program requires each student to complete 450 hours of internship in an assigned agency. Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch has partnered with WT to provide students the internship hours and field instruction necessary to complete their Bachelor’s degree.

    The purpose of WT’s field work program is to provide a practical, service-oriented experience in which the student’s knowledge and skills can be demonstrated and applied, enhanced and appraised. As such, the intern will shadow an assigned caseworker/mentor who is responsible for the provision of case management services to the residents of Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch. The intern will shadow an assigned caseworker/mentor who acts as liaison between residents, families, and outside agencies and provides crisis intervention for residents.

    Job Qualifications:
    • Working to obtaining a bachelor’s degree in the field of social work, psychology or sociology.
    • Must successfully complete competency checklist.
    • Basic competency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) is preferred.
    • Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
