    Social Science Internship ““ Half-time (for up to one year) or full-time (for up to three months)

    CRD conducts studies that are interesting, challenging, and wide-ranging in scope. They include research on religious processes and products, evaluation of program implementation and outcomes, and the development and monitoring of social and religious trends. This position supports applied religious research in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. The social science intern may be involved in various phases. The intern will likely contribute to study design, recruitment, data collection, analysis, report preparation and presentation.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience: Interns should be currently enrolled in a social science or closely-related graduate program (e.g., Educational Inquiry, Measurement & Evaluation; Marriage, Family & Human Development; Psychology; Public Administration; School Psychology; Social Work; Sociology). Some Ph.D. course experience is preferred.

    Experience using a variety of software applications is expected (e.g., Stata or SPSS; Qualtrics; Excel; Access; Word; PowerPoint) as well as training in theory, research methods, and statistics.

    Research Skills: Ability to conduct or assist professional researchers in some or all phases of applied research including:

    • Conceptualizing research questions
    • Reviewing research literature
    • Developing research design and instruments
    • Gathering quantitative and qualitative data
    • Analyzing data using statistical software and qualitative techniques
    • Developing conclusions, implications, and recommendations
    • Preparing presentations and reports

    Other Requirements

    • Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in good standing
    • Work at Church headquarters in Salt Lake City
    • 20 hours/week for up to a maximum one-year internship; 40 hours/week for seasonal (three month) employment
    • Maintain confidentiality of all research, which is proprietary
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to prepare research results for non-technical audiences

    Start date: Preferably by early May, 2018; may start sooner

    Worthiness Qualification

    Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
