    Interns in the Outreach and Community Engagement department provide support on a variety of assignments that may include writing, events management, data compilation, marketing and web research. Interns will support, and in some cases, manage major outreach events from conceptualization to implementation. This work includes development of materials, content and activities, as well as logistics and communication with community partners and volunteers. Examples of department projects may include: WETA Kids childrens events and materials development for early literacy initiatives Ready To Learn and Where Literacy Begins; screening events for Washington in the 90s, WETA Neighborhoods and Heritage Month activities, to name a few.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Preferred major in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or Education
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills along with strong organizational and computer skills (including Internet research) are essential
    • Event coordination and research skills are a plus.
    EDUCATION

    To be eligible, interns must be currently enrolled in a college or university or have graduated within 12 months from the beginning of the internship. Interns may receive academic credit for their internship if approved and arranged by their educational institution.
