    This is an internship opportunity for a college student pursuing an information technology-related degree with an emphasis on information system security. In this position, the intern shall work closely with a senior Information System Security Officer (ISSO) maintaining the security posture of classified information systems. Through this internship the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in applying the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF) for managing risk to information systems.

    In addition to on-the-job training, the I&S Internship Program offers:

    Competitive Pay: Earn a competitive hourly wage, working full-time (Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week) through the run of the program (mid-May through August).

    Opportunity for Future Employment: Many of our I&S interns return as interns and/or are hired on full-time after completing their degree.

    Challenging & Meaningful Work: Your work will be challenging and impactful with on-the-job training and the opportunity to complete a summer project.

    Networking and Development Opportunities: You will have the opportunity to build long-lasting relationships as you participate in workshops, mentor programs, presentations with senior leaders, community involvement, tours of our exciting products, and other networking and development events.

    A qualified candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the following concepts and skills. Knowledge can be demonstrated through completed classes, self-taught, certification, military/civilian work experience.

    The preferred candidate will demonstrate knowledge of some of the following concepts and skills. Knowledge can be demonstrated through completed classes, self-taught, certification, or military/civilian work experience.

    • Network design and configuration
    • Network administration
    • Active Directory management
    • Software, security patches, and anti-virus update installation
    • Event log auditing
    • Troubleshoot shoot system errors and user reported problems
    • Backup and restore administration
    • Hardware maintenance
    • NIST 800-53 security controls implementation
