    Each year, the College Board helps more than seven million students prepare for a successful transition to college through programs and services in college readiness and college success “” including the SAT ® and the Advanced Placement Program ®. The organization also serves the education community through research and advocacy on behalf of students, educators and schools.

    The College Board’s Internship Program is an exciting chance to develop new skills while contributing to an organization that is committed to the transformation of education in America through college readiness for all students.

    This is a 10 week paid internship in our Reston, VA Office for Summer 2018.

    As a member of the Data Science Team:

    You will have the opportunity to

    • Program surveys into survey tools
    • Analyze open-ended responses from surveys
    • Research using public datasets (eg we want to weig+A7ht survey data to be representative of highest parental education level ““ what’s the population distribution of this variable by state for 10th grade students?)
    • Assistant the curator of Pollvault ““ the nascent CBDS survey research repository by writing SQL
    • Perform editorial review of Data Science analysis to ensure it is clear and understandable, and conforms to style guide; make suggestions for improvement and help posts be easily digestible for the broader College Board audience

    Technical Skill Requirements:

    • Good communication skills
    • Prior data analysis experience
    • R, SQL, Python ““ one or more of these would be great to have
    • SPSS, Stata, or VBA skills would also be a positive indicator, but those aren’t things they’ll be using

    Additional Requirements:

    • Must be a current Junior or rising Senior enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s or Graduate degree program
    • Strong and verbal written communication skills
    • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills
    • Effective time management skills
    • Desire to learn, explore and be challenged
    • Interest in working for a mission-oriented, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving education
    • Committed to working the entire agreed upon internship period
